Well, it's been an adventure so far. sorry there's been no posts or pictures, (this dial-up's proven more painful than I thought) but here's hoping this post works. :) I have my car, my lovely car (I will post a pic when i can) and I finally got in insured yesterday (yikes!) it still needs a little rust repair, but i like it. :) Oona got here on monday night, and we've been having fun "exploring Nelson"
On tuesday, we ate a yummy baker's Breakfast at the Bakery with delicious mochas, and then we wandered around nelson for a while (I took Oona around our Downtown street) Then we came home and lay in the sun for a couple of hours reading and generally enjoying the warmth and sunshine. We went for dinner at The Outer Clove, and fabulous resturant with garlic in pretty much every item. mmmmmm.... my lips were burning from it! Yesterday we took the Kootenay Lake Ferry across to Crawford Bay and explored, we got to see a beautiful Ashram, and glass blowing. Today there is going to be a trip to the Hotsprings! weee!
and that's all folks.
oh yeah, it has been really nice to see and hang out with the family! (We went bowling on my birthday hee hee!)
I'll try for a more indepth adventure account when I'm at home.

On the road again...
In 6 hours I shall be heading out the door bound on an adventure homeward (Nelson, BC). I'm very excited about hanging out with the family since I haven't seem them since christmas. Lot's of good times ahead. But, as my parents only have dial-up, posting will probably be much less frequent (for the five of you that actually check up on me) ;) I'll try to post some pics, and more if I can.
But for now, I say so long, enjoy the sunshine, and see you soon!

T&S's Day o' Fun...
Well, I've just spent 30+ minutes trying to upload all these bloody pictures, and I'm still missing a couple (But I'm too tired now to go and add them, so perhaps tomorrow). I really need to learn how to send more than one pic at a time... edit: I fixed the pics, and tried to make it look better, but I've still got some learning to do....
anyway.
I could tell a long and rambling tale of me and Tara's sunday, but well, I'm tired from such a long and fun day, that I think I'll let the pictures speak for themselves. We basically ran around town giggling, shopping, and taking too many pictures. it was mucho fun (and if I could say that in German I would) Then we came home, giggled more when we actually looked at the photos, and then my friend Ben came over for a supper of homemade poutine and salad which was delicious. My Friend Dave popped by (soon to be new roomate!) and we chatted about this and that (as a matter of fact!) and then amused ourselves by changing me and Tara's blogs into Snoop Doggy talk. it was the hizzle, my nizzle (oh man, i'm so white.) but if you want to have a laugh you should check it out (okay, I can't remember the url right now, but I promise to get it tomorrow...) edit: it's gizoogle
anyway, it was a smashing good day, and I'm looking forward to a fabulous sleep. (hopefull I wont have to work tomorrow!)

this is how my day began...
Tara...
it starts with a bit of shopping, caffine, and a picture by a fountain...
Fan Tan Alley (the coolest alley in Victoria)
hip in fan tan alley (wouldn't that make a cool cd cover?)
trying to be hip, but looking a little to intently at the dirty ground...
alright, here we go...
Everyone with me now...
Go! Go! Go!
Be free Willy! Be Free!
me and my hot hot boyfriend, Bob the RCMP
spring in the city
and moi ( a little giddy from the wind and caffine)
colour coordinating
end of a day o' fun

AIEEEEE, 12 hours till freedom!
What a day. Wrote my GRS exam this morning. It took just over an hour. It was not hard (I was done the multiple choice in like 7 minutes). Then, I headed to the computer lab, made a few edits to two of the stories for my portfolio (Thanks Leila), emailed them to the mom, and headed home. Crystal left me a message via email that she and Leila (our friend form highschool who was visiting) were going to meet for lunch at The Lotus Pond. I decided that I wasn't going to get any work done at home before then, so I headed down to Serious Coffee with a copy of the last story I needed to revise (and one i've been avoiding because it needed a lot of work). I first popped into a&b sound to check if the had The Perishers, a band from Sweden that's touring with Sarah M, and were just in town. They did, and I bought a copy. I really like them; they're mellow, sweet, coldplay/david grey/deathcab for cutie. Anyway, I got an americano at Serious and got "serious" about my revision (oh, i'm so funny, really, I should be a stand up...) Within in an hour I'd done a pretty good overhaul. I met with the gals for lunch and proceeded to get very full on sweet and sour tofu pork balls (what a mouthful!), turnip cake, curried potatoes, spring rolls and more! Such good food, mmmmmm... Then I headed home and began transposing edits onto the computer while chatting with the gals (Tara included now). Said bubye to Leila (thus the pics) and headed back to the computer. Finished the story, sent it to Tara for editing (of which she did a great job) and then said screw it and watched The O.C., and CSI. Finally got to talk to the mom (been trying to get a hold of her all day) had a good chat. Now I'm getting ready for my last sleep before freedom. wahoo!
oh yeah, I almost forgot to mention, I'm getting a car!!! For me, forever (or until it dies) for free! (minus insurence and gas... but I'll take it!) My uncle Brian is giving it to my Dad, who is gifting it to moi. Sooooo Happy about that! (and this is no april fools joke, i really am getting a car!)

Met with my fiction prof Sean Virgo today, about my third short story. I was a little nervous because it hadn't been workshopped by the class before hand, so it was soley his reading of the story... but he liked it. There were of course suggestions for betterment and a couple concerns, but it was a relief to have him say that he felt that this seemed like more of what I was interested in writing (which is true) and that it came through. Which is good, because I'd been feeling that my fiction writing, as compared to the poetry, was actually suffering because I was feeling limited in what and how I could write. Whew! Now I just have to some how revamp the first two stories by friday!

GRS 200 Final Exam: Format and Guidelines
This is the handout we got from our teacher... and you wonder why I love this class.
Here it is:
Motivational strategies for taking the GRS 200 exam.
1) Have fun while writing in the exam. "How?" you ask. By finding your inner "happy exam writer." You may not have met this person recently, but, I promise, s/he is there, waiting to be discovered.
2) Have fun in general. Life is short. Soon our atoms will be recomposed into other objects, possibly inert ones. Just ask Lucretius.
3) Do not use the word "fun." It is a repulsively vacous idion, invented by someone intimidated by words with more than three letters, and clearly hoping that one bland, nearly meaningless word might be applied to every situation without need of further thought. E.g., Question: "How was your weekend?" Answer: "Fun." (Some would argue that using "fun" as an adjective in this way adds insult to injury.)
4) While we are airing pet peeves, I might also recommend not turning on the CBC on weekend mornings. They play *&^%$*&^ fiddle music FOR THREE STRAIGHT HOURS! YES, FOR THREE STRAIGHT HOURS! THAT'S LONGER THAN YOUR EXAM, A MERE TWO HOURS! AM I THE ONLY ONE WHO HAS NOTICED THIS?!!!??? AND MAY I ADD, STUDIES HAVE SHOWN THAT A RADIO PLAYING IN THE BACKGROUND REDUCES STUDYING EFFICIENCY! WHY IS THIS STILL IN ALL CAPS? IT'S COMPULSIVE! I CAN'T SEEM TO STOP!
5) Don't study for this exam. By studying and doing well you ensure that you will go on to a successful but spiritually unfulfilling career. You will become trapped in the mediocrity of success. FAIL THIS EXAM!
6) Disregard advice in 5). Who needs spiritual fulfillment when there's cash?
can you imagine what the actual class is like? no? picture juggling, costume changes, artistic renderings, nude slides, and you're getting close.
(okay maybe I exaggerate a little, but I swear it was one of the most amusing classes I've taken.)
*he did actually tell us the format of the exam in class. (whew!)

poetry portfolio in! (not as happy with it as I'd like, but what can you do?)
now there's just the GRS 200 exam on thursday, and my fiction portfolio on friday. Then FREEDOM!!!!
p.s. as part of my method of procrastination I watched a movie with Ramona and Crystal. "Danny Deckchair" - a very sweet and funny austrailan comedy. I recommend it.

Grad 2005
When Crystal said there was going to be a "pat down" I thought she was kidding...
but, no, she did not lie. When we arrived we presented id, handed over tickets and then proceeded to be patted down before we could enter the SUB, I think that may have been the first time I've ever actually had a pat down... anyway.
It was fun. more fun than I expected it, which was nice. Spent the whole time dancing, wandering increasingly sticky hallways, and being entertained.
"I'm just Kidding!" being the quote of the night (in the voice of Triumph the Dog of course)
Good times were had. I can't remember the last time I stayed up until 4am. it was worth it. (I only wish I'd gotted to hang out with Tara more, we had about a 2 min groove session then she was gone for the night)
Today me and Crystal lounged in pjs ate blueberry pancakes with Adam from downstairs, watched movies - pretty much slothed it.
I attempted to do some poetry revisions, but to no real constructive avail (not so good considering the portfolio os due tomorrow...) and then actually showered and biked it over to the Belfry Theatre for the Writing departments Grad Reading, which was very good. Every one read beautifully in my opinion. (I think the most nervous person was the host, my fiction teacher Sean Virgo, who is usually so nonchalant and confident it was surprising)
But, now it is time for work and sleep.
Only 5 days left!!!

Ah, the peacefulness of a clean room. why oh why can't I keep it like this? I love the way a room feels when it's just been thouroughly(sp?) cleaned. Especially when you get into bed. There's just a feeling of breathing room, of clarity. If only it weren't so rare in my case...
anyway. had a great day. obviously I cleaned the room (minus the cd collection, still need to organize those stacks...), took a little adventure with Crystal to Old Navy, where we got some flip flips and tee-shirts (I've never been that big of a fan of Old Navy, cheap clothes, cheap prices, at a high cost to the workers... but as I am human and hypocritical, I bought those things. what can I say). Then Ben came over for a late supper of burritos and salad (YUM, one of my favourites) and we watched Love Actually which Ben hadn't seen yet. Sometimes you need a bit of cheese. (we were going to watch Breakfast at Tiffany's as i haven't seen it yet, but alas he brought over a dvd, and all we have is vhs...) Now I'm going to have a great sleep (I hope) work all day tomorrow and get ready for our grad party where I plan to do alot of dancing! weeee! I'm trying not to think of the loads of revisions that I should be doing. not thinking about them...

Just had my last class today. last class of my degree. WAHOOOOOO! now there's just one week of portfolios and an exam until it's completely over.
it is both exciting, and sad. the end of an era one might say... and the beginning of "life". what the heck does that mean anyway? I mean. haven't we been living this whole time? making connections, having relationships, working, paying bills, having dreams. Yes we've been sort working towards a 'career' (or at least some have...) but people always seem so eager to enter the "real" world... I'm in no rush to "start my career" whatever that may be. I figure, first of all, I want to just relax for a minute. take a breath or two that doesn't have homework looming over top of it, then i'd like to do a bit of travelling, see a bit more of the world... then maybe I'll be ready to "Settle down" or whatever (although I think i'm a fairly settled person already, I've never been what you might call "flighty", being the taurus that I am...) I apologize for all the words in "quotes"... must be my mood. I just want to make it through next week. go home for a little, hang with the family, and then we'll see... then the moon...
