an interesting day...
woke up to an empty house as both roomates decided to be productive this morning. Left me wandering around unsure of what to do. Made an okay cup of coffee (the roast is called Rumba! a very nice organic blend from Creekmore's Coffee off of oh crap I forget what island... but it's local), ate some granola, puttered on the computer (muck like i'm doing now), tried to phone home, no answer... can you tell where this is leading? to a very boring day. But then my roomie Tara messengered me saying that she was sick and coming home. and I was like, sweet, something to do! and I said, come on home, i'll have tea waiting. (The thing is, I do have lots to do, being almost the last week of school and all, a story to write, revisions to do, but hey, any excuse will do) So I showered, did the dishes, and when she got home, we made tea, a spot of lunch, and watched Calender Girls, a great lounging-on-the-couch sort of movie. I moved the computer into the living room, and pretended to work on some poetry revisions. Tara had a nap, and i actually did get some work done - 4 out of 6 poems pretty much revised! wahoo! And then, I went to the store to pick up some soup for the sicko, and caving in to my ocassional impulse for playing with fate, I bought a lottery ticket, one of the three dollar crossword ones - the Zodiac Crossword. I came home, Tara was still in bed, so I sat back down and played my little lotto game, and I WON!!! I couldn't believe it! I never win more than five dollars on those things! and I won $2000.00!!! I nearly peed myself (well, maybe not, but I'm freakin excited!) I woke Tara up to tell her, but she's so sick with the flu she couldn't really muster up much enthuasiam. I didn't know what to do. I mean, I realize that two thousand dollars isn't really that much (considering the amount of my student loan) but hey that's free money! I phoned my parents again, but still no answer. Finally Crystal got home, and I showed her the ticket, and we were both like "I can't believe it!" I did a little dance (okay, I did several). I'm still grinning.
